Book-signing Fundraiser to Benefit Animal Victims of Northern California Wildfires
I’m sure you are as heartbroken as I am for the victims of California’s deadly wildfires. TV news coverage of apocalyptic scenes, live videos from terrified evacuees, and stories of loss and injury have caused my mind to race since that dreadful Thursday. Our air quality has at times registered at hazardous levels and smoke continues to seep indoors. There’s no room for complaints, because people have lost everything. Everything! It is unfathomable. I don’t know what I would do if it were me. This tragedy hurts my soul.
My cats have had to endure extra-long gratitude hugs and kisses from me these past ten days. It’s because every time I pick them up and smell their smoky fur, I can’t help but think of my fellow pet parents who can’t do that anymore. My heart aches for them.
At a ladies group luncheon on Friday, my dear friend and FieldHaven volunteer, Kathy Gerry, shared a fire victim story that I know will be with me forever. It breaks my heart and at the same time warms my heart. I keep thinking about the trauma little kittens, Ash and Phoenix, experienced and the beautiful brotherly love that brought them through. I woke up Saturday morning still thinking about Ash and Phoenix and knowing that I can’t go another day without doing more to help the displaced and injured pets of Butte County. My first call was to dear friend and Northern California Publishers and Authors President M.L. Hamilton. I shared my book-signing fundraiser idea and she was immediately on board.
We are having a multi-author book-signing fundraiser event at FieldHaven Marketplace, 454 F Street, Lincoln, California on Saturday, November, 24, 2018 from 11 am to 3 pm to assist FieldHaven Feline Center with their ongoing rescue efforts and medical care of animals affected by the northern California wildfires.
AN AUTOGRAPHED BOOK OF THE DONOR’S CHOOSING WILL BE GIVEN TO THE DONOR FOR EVERY $25 MONETARY DONATION MADE TO FIELDHAVEN FELINE CENTER AT THE EVENT.
If you are an author interested in participating, thank you! Contact me at (916) 316-6567 by Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Act quickly because space is limited. Please note that participating authors are required to give their book away for free when a donor chooses it. Authors will not be allowed to sell any items. It’s not about you or me. This event is about giving and helping innocent animals in their time of need.
Thank you and please treasure each day. Give your family and pets extra hugs. Be grateful for everything in your life, because we never know what lies ahead. It could all disappear in a matter of minutes.
With Gratitude, Denise
